Types of home extensions

Here at ShapeHouse, we are experts with extensions, whether it is a double storey to a side or a dormer extension.

Dormer extensions

Our last blog demonstrated the types of loft conversions, also known as dormer extension. This included Roof light, Dormer, Hip-to-gable, L-shaped and Mansard loft conversions. To read more about loft conversions visit- https://shapehouse.co.uk/types-of-lofts-conversion/

A loft extension creates extra space in your loft, which can be a bedroom, office, playroom, or bathroom.

Rear extensions

A rear extension extends out of the back of your property. A rear extension creates the perfect space for an open plan with a kitchen or living space with a dining or living room.

Side extensions

As the name suggests, the side extension extends to the side of the house to cover the existing alleyway or cover the path down the side of your house. This type of extension tends to be small but can transform your home without losing your garden.

Wrap-around extensions

A wrap-around extension combines a rear and side wing by gaining more footprint to your house. This would be excellent to create a vast open-plan space including a kitchen, living, and dining room.

These are just the five main extensions, but there are several extensions to consider.

We look forward to hearing from you.
